Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the Beacon Scholarship at Imperial College, applicants need to:

  • Must be citizens and residents of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, or South Africa (applicants from South Africa must belong to a historically disadvantaged community).
  • Apply and secure acceptance to enroll in a 3- or 4-year undergraduate course at Imperial in the mentioned faculties.
  • Show considerable financial necessity—families earning over USD 100,000 per year are unlikely to be eligible.
  • Demonstrate clear leadership abilities and a dedication to aiding in the advancement of their native country. Only prospective students qualify (continuing students are not eligible).

Importance of the Beacon Scholarship

  • The Beacon and Imperial College London will share the expenses of tuition fees.
  • Coverage: Full reimbursement of international tuition expenses
  • Cost Distribution: 50% by The Beacon Trust and 50% by Imperial
  • Excluded: Living costs, housing, flight tickets, visa fees, health surcharges, and all additional expenses are the responsibility of the scholar and their family/sponsor.
