Study in the UK | Unite Foundation Scholarship 2025
If you’re a care leaver, care experienced (in Scotland), or an estranged student planning to attend university in the UK, the Unite Foundation Scholarship Scheme for 2025/2026 is open for applications! This program offers up to three years of accommodation without rent or bills.
While gaining university admission is a significant achievement, stable housing can be a challenge for care-experienced and estranged students. The Unite Foundation addresses this issue by providing essential housing support, allowing you to focus on your education and future. In collaboration with Unite Students, this scholarship supports individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to succeed at prestigious universities in the UK.
The Benefits of the Scholarship
Here’s what chosen students will obtain through the Unite Foundation Scholarship:
- Receive up to 3 years of complimentary student housing in a contemporary, purpose-designed en-suite room within a shared apartment.
- Housing is available all year round, ensuring you won’t need to relocate during the holidays.
- No rent, no utilities, no security deposit, and no guarantor necessary.
- Availability of secure, cosy, furnished accommodations featuring shared kitchens, internet, laundry facilities, and assistance services.
- Willingness to move to a Unite Students property in a different city (if required for an internship or seasonal position).
- Opportunities for involvement via Unite Foundation activities, media initiatives, and strengthening the student community.
- Students may reapply each year for a maximum of three years (not counting foundation years or years with resits).
Eligibility Requirements
In order to be eligible for this scholarship, you need to fulfill the following essential criteria:
You are:
- 25 years old or younger on 1 September 2025
- Beginning or pursuing your initial undergraduate degree (excluding a second degree or foundation course)
- Attending or intending to attend a university affiliated with Unite Foundation
- Designated as a student with UK home fee status
- In receipt of (or applying for) financial assistance for students as a care leaver/experienced/estranged learner.
AND you have to be:
- A Care Leaver (England, Wales, NI): Individuals aged 16–25 who have been acknowledged by a Local Authority and hold legal care leaver status.
- Care Experienced (Scotland): Aged 16–25 and formerly cared for by a Local Authority.
- Alienated from parents: Identified by student finance or SAAS as an “independent student” because of a permanent severance of communication with both parents.
You will need documents from student finance or your local authority to confirm your eligibility.

You need to be registered at (or possess a definite offer from) one of the following 25 affiliated universities, which include:
- University College London (UCL)
- University of Edinburgh
- King’s College London
- University of Bristol
- Queen Mary University in London
- Manchester Metropolitan Uni
- De Montfort Uni
- Sheffield Hallam Uni
- University of the West of England
- And numerous others throughout England, Scotland, and Wales.
Attention: Only students from the main campus are eligible – those from satellite or franchise locations do not qualify.

- University Confirmation Due Date: 20 June 2025 by 11:59
- Scholarship Results Revealed: By 3 July 2025 at 3:00 PM

- Reservation List Clearing Deadline: 29 August 2025
