Study in Taiwan | NPUST Scholarship 2026

For international students targeting a high-quality education in Taiwan, a significant funding opportunity is now open. The National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) is accepting applications for its Scholarship for Excellent Foreign Students for the 2026–2027 academic year. This merit-based, renewable scholarship provides flexible financial support to outstanding undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD students, helping to reduce the cost of tuition and living expenses in Taiwan.

A Flexible and Renewable Financial Award

This scholarship offers tiered support based on your academic level and performance. The benefits can include:

  • Tuition Support: A partial or full tuition fee waiver, along with a waiver for miscellaneous and credit fees.
  • Living Support: Free on-campus accommodation in university dormitories. In specific cases, doctoral students may also receive a monthly stipend.
  • Renewable Duration: The scholarship is awarded yearly and can be renewed. It typically supports Master’s students for up to 2 years and PhD students for up to 3 years, based on continued academic excellence.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

This scholarship is designed exclusively for non-Taiwanese students. There are two distinct applicant pathways:

1. New International Students (Applying for 2026 Admission):

You can apply for the scholarship at the same time you submit your admission application to NPUST.

2. Currently Enrolled International Students (Seeking Renewal):

You are eligible to apply for renewal if you:

  • Maintain a strong academic record: an average score of 80% or higher for graduate students or 75% or higher for undergraduates.
  • Achieve a minimum conduct score of 80%.
  • Are not receiving any other external scholarship, as this award cannot be combined with other funding.

Application Deadlines and Process

Your application timeline depends entirely on your current student status.

  • For New Applicants: You must submit your complete scholarship and admission application package by 31 March 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.
  • For Current Students (Renewal): The application window for the 2026-2027 cycle runs from 1 July to 31 July 2026. Decisions are communicated by mid-August.

How to Secure and Maintain the Scholarship

A successful application hinges on academic strength. For new students, your admission application, which includes your academic transcripts, statement of purpose, and recommendation letters, also serves as your scholarship application. Consequently, ensuring every component showcases your highest academic achievement is paramount.

For current students seeking renewal, consistently strong grades and good conduct are the sole criteria. You must proactively apply during the July window and maintain the required GPA to secure continued funding.

Why This Scholarship is a Strategic Choice

The NPUST Scholarship is more than a one-time grant; it is a renewable support system designed to see you through your degree. This structure provides significant financial predictability, allowing you to plan your studies in Taiwan with greater confidence. Furthermore, the inclusion of potential accommodation and fee waivers addresses the two largest cost barriers for international students.

The NPUST Scholarship for Excellent Foreign Students is an excellent opportunity to access Taiwan’s renowned technological and scientific education, accompanied by substantial financial aid. By understanding the correct application pathway and deadline for your situation and presenting a standout academic profile, you can secure this valuable award.
