One Young World Roche Scholarship

Study in South Africa | One Young World Roche Scholarship 2026

Are you an NHS professional working at the intersection of sustainability and patient care? The Roche Scholarship 2026 is now accepting applications, and it targets a very specific kind of healthcare leader. Three scholars will receive fully funded entry to the One Young World Summit in Cape Town, South Africa, from 3 to 6 November 2026. This opportunity covers virtually all costs associated with attendance.

This is not a generic leadership award. Roche, one of the largest healthcare companies in the world, has set ambitious goals: reaching net zero emissions by 2045 and halving the environmental footprint of its products and operations. The scholarship reflects this mission directly. It is built for NHS professionals who are already pushing boundaries in health equity, sustainable clinical practices, or decarbonising healthcare supply chains. If your daily work involves making the NHS greener, fairer, or more innovative, this opportunity was designed with you in mind.

The One Young World Summit ranks among the most prominent global platforms for young leaders, drawing delegates from over 190 countries. Becoming a Roche Scholar means more than attending a conference. You join a curated network of professionals shaping healthcare policy and practice across the United Kingdom and beyond.

The Financial Package: What You Receive

Roche does not offer a partial sponsorship or discounted registration. The scholarship covers the full cost of participation. Here is exactly what selected scholars gain:

  • Summit Access: You receive full access to the One Young World Summit 2026 in Cape Town. This includes entry to all plenary sessions, workshops, and networking events.
  • Accommodation: The scholarship provides private hotel accommodation from 2 to 6 November 2026. You stay in comfort throughout the Summit.
  • Travel Coverage: You receive economy class travel to and from Cape Town. Roche reimburses your flight costs after you book your own tickets.
  • All Meals: The package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout the programme. The hotel and Summit venue provide these meals.
  • Local Transport: You receive coverage for transportation costs between the airport and hotel via public transport.

Number of Awards: The Foundation grants three scholarships for the class of 2026.

Eligibility Requirements

This scholarship does not open its doors to every healthcare worker in the UK. Roche seeks a specific profile: young professionals currently working within the NHS who have a demonstrated track record in sustainable innovation or health equity. Your work should align with at least one of the following areas:

  • Health Equity: You address the root causes and consequences of health inequalities across communities. Your work ensures that underserved populations receive the care they need.
  • Patient Care Innovation: You develop or implement new methods of treatment or diagnosis that meaningfully improve the patient care pathway. Your efforts make healthcare more effective and accessible.
  • Environmental Impact: You reduce the environmental footprint of healthcare operations. This can include cutting emissions, easing the burden on natural resources, or decarbonising supply chains within the NHS.

The key word across all these criteria is demonstrated. Roche does not seek ideas alone. They want evidence that you are already doing this work inside the NHS. Your application must showcase tangible results, projects you have led, and measurable impacts you have achieved.

How to Apply

Applying for the Roche Scholarship requires careful attention to your narrative and evidence. Start by gathering documentation that proves your work aligns with the scholarship’s focus areas. This might include project reports, data on outcomes, letters of support from colleagues, or media coverage of your initiatives.

Next, craft a compelling personal statement that tells your story. Explain the challenges you have faced, the solutions you have implemented, and the impact you have created. Be specific about your role and your contributions. The selection committee needs to see your leadership in action.

Finally, complete the application form on the One Young World website. Double check that all your materials are uploaded and that your references are confirmed. A complete, polished application gives you the best chance in this highly competitive pool.

The Deadline You Cannot Miss

The application deadline for the Roche Scholarship 2026 is 6 May 2026. This gives candidates just under two months from the opening date to prepare and submit a strong application. However, only three scholars will be selected from across the entire NHS. Waiting until the final week is not a winning strategy.

Start pulling together your evidence of impact now. Refine your narrative. Submit well ahead of the cut off date. Visit the official One Young World website today, review the full requirements, and take the first step toward representing the NHS on a global stage. Your work in sustainable healthcare deserves this spotlight.
