Academic Degree Level

The Slovak Government NSP Scholarships for 2025/2026 (Fully Funded) are offered for Master’s and PhD programs at universities in Slovakia.

Advantages

Financial Aid Amounts and Accommodation Arrangements

  • The scholarship aims to compensate the living expenses of international scholarship recipients, namely the expenditures associated with residing in Slovakia (such as food and accommodation), during their academic, research, creative, or teaching tenure at universities and research institutions in Slovakia.
  • Scholarship recipients whose stay in Slovakia exceeds 90 days and who are citizens of non-European Union, non-European Economic Area, and non-Swiss countries, requiring a temporary residence permit, must provide the foreign police office with confirmation of the absence of any communicable disease posing a public health risk within 30 days of receiving the temporary residence permit.
  • Scholarship recipients will be compensated for medical examination and confirmation issuance fees, up to €250 per recipient, upon submission of the original invoice from the individual medical institution to SAIA, n. o., in Bratislava.
  • Also, scholarship recipients will receive a list of proficient medical facilities from the relevant foreign police offices in Slovakia. Scholarship recipients must submit the invoice to SAIA, n. o., in Bratislava before the deadline for the final report; failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of their reimbursement rights.

Who is eligible to apply for the National Scholarship Programme of Slovakia?

Submitting a new application for the scholarship:

  • For re-application to a scholarship, approval is contingent upon a minimum interval of two years having elapsed between the re-submission deadline and the last awarded NSP scholarship deadline.
  • Exceptions to this criterion may only occur in cases warranting special attention, particularly if the prior scholarship-supported stay was impacted by unusual circumstances resulting from force majeure (e.g., pandemic, military conflict, etc.).

The National Scholarship Programme does not endorse:

  • International students and PhD candidates enrolled in full-degreebefore higher education programs (bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate studies) in Slovakia, or those currently pursuing such programs in Slovakia who seek financial support for their studies through the NSP;
  • University educators, researchers, and artists lacking a PhD (or its equivalent) but possessing over four years of professional experience in their respective fields (with PhD studies counted as work experience) by the specified application deadline are eligible. Nevertheless, the Scholarship Program Administrator may, after consulting the Selection Committee regarding exceptional cases—particularly those arising from force majeure—consider candidates without a PhD (or its equivalent) who have more than four but no more than seven years of experience. However, such candidates may receive a scholarship amount equivalent to that of applicants without a PhD (or its equivalent) and with less than four years of experience.
  • International candidates who have resided in the Slovak Republic for a cumulative total of 15 months or more within the 36 months preceding the application deadline;
  • International applicants awarded a scholarship reside in Slovakia under various scholarship programs financed by public resources (e.g., International Visegrad Fund, Erasmus+, CEEPUS, bilateral agreements, etc.).
