Study in Netherlands: Maastricht University Bright Talents Scholarship in 2027 (Fully Funded)

The 2027 Maastricht University Bright Talents Scholarship allows high-achieving international students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland to study a fully funded master’s degree in the Netherlands.

A special feature of Maastricht University (UM)’s Bright Talents grant is that recipients of the grant are expected to take part in the Thesis Internship Program (TIP). The students study their master’s thesis by assignment to a company that is active within the relevant Brightlands campus.

The Brightlands ecosystem links students, researchers, entrepreneurs and companies active in health, chemistry and materials, agrifood, data science and smart digital services.

Requirements for Maastricht University Bright Talents Scholarship in 2027

1. Nationality

To be eligible for this role, you should be a national of a non-EU/EEA country and Switzerland. Applicants also need to meet the requirements for an entry visa and a residence permit for the Netherlands.

2. No dual nationality with an EU/EEA or Swiss nationality

Secondly, applicants should not be dual citizens of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland.

3. Previous research in the Netherlands

Applicants must also have never been previously enrolled in a degree-seeking higher education programme in the Netherlands.

4. Age Requirements

• Additionally, applicants must be 35 years old or younger on 1 September 2027.

5. Entry into a Participating Master’s Programme

• Moreover, applicants must have submitted an application for admission to a participating Maastricht University master’s programme for the 2027-2028 academic year.
• In addition, applicants must meet the academic and entrance standards for the master’s programme of their choice.

6. Ambassador’s Commitment

• Finally, scholarship recipients are required to work as active advocates for Brightlands and Maastricht University during and after their studies.

Benefits of Maastricht University Bright Talents Scholarship

• First, tuition fees will be waived for successful students, easing the tuition-fee burden for their eligible master’s programme.
• Second, winners of the scholarship will get €20,150 for living expenses.
• Third, successful applicants will receive free accommodation.
• Furthermore, successful students will be able to contact researchers, entrepreneurs, businesses, students, innovation professionals, and academic experts.
• Finally, students will serve as ambassadors for Maastricht University and Brightlands, sharing their experiences with potential students and other stakeholders.
