The Toshizo Watanabe International grant covers tuition and living expenses. The grant amount is contingent upon the recipient’s financial resources. It provides up to 1,700,000 yen annually for tuition and the subsequent monthly stipends to assist with living expenses:
- Up to 70,000 yen a month for a duration of one to two years of college.
- Up to 60,000 yen monthly throughout the third year of college
- Lastly, up to 50,000 yen per month for students in their fourth year of college or higher education.

- To apply, you must have completed 12 years of formal education or its equivalent and been admitted to a university or graduate school in Japan.
- Language Proficiency: Applicants whose primary language is Japanese must demonstrate proficiency by completing the EJU or JLPT examinations.
- Individuals acquiring proficiency in English must demonstrate competence in both spoken and written English, alongside a foundational understanding of Japanese (JLPT N5–N4 level).
- Financial Necessity: Applicants must demonstrate difficulty in financing their college education.
- Ineligible for Government Assistance: This grant is not available to anyone currently receiving aid from the New Student Support Program for Higher Education.

- By January 12, 2019, you are required to upload the aforementioned documents to the online application form.

Two live information sessions will be conducted to assist applicants.
- The inaugural meeting is scheduled for September 13, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
- The subsequent meeting is scheduled for November 29, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
