What You Will Be Engaging In
Your doctoral study will concentrate on:
- Creating control algorithms for offshore wind farms and turbines to guarantee stable grid assistance and minimized mechanical stress.
- Incorporating wind forecasts into live management tactics.
- Evaluating control strategies using large-eddy simulations and a model of a scaled wind farm.
- Working together with wind farm managers, technical engineers, and global specialists.
- You will obtain hands-on experience at one of Europe’s leading renewable energy research centers and have access to facilities such as the DLR WiValdi research wind farm.
Eligibility Requirements
Eligible candidates should possess:
- A Master’s or Diploma in Control, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, Renewable Energy, Physics, or a related field.
- Robust control systems and programming expertise (particularly in Matlab or Python).
- Inspiration to engage in PhD research that integrates theoretical concepts with practical experimentation.
- Outstanding command of English; knowledge of German is an advantage.
- Previous experience in wind energy systems, turbine dynamics, or international research placements will be seen as beneficial.
