  • In extraordinary circumstances, the grant duration may be prolonged to three years.

Significant Notice:

  • Students who fulfill the criteria of Section 8 of the German Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) are ineligible for this scholarship program.

  • Assessments: Two assessments from full-time faculty members holding doctoral degrees at Universität Hamburg.
  • Ensure you meet the deadline! Applications that are incomplete or sent past the deadline will not be evaluated. Commence the collection of your documents promptly to facilitate a seamless application process.

Supplementary Requirement:

  • Proof of Residence Permit: Submit this directly to the program coordinator prior to the deadline.
  • Citizens of the European Union: Submit your identity card and German residency registration certificate (“Meldebescheinigung”).

Selection Procedure:

A committee consisting of faculty members and representatives from the student council (ASTA) will provide the scholarships based on merit.
