Criteria for Eligibility for the Erasmus Mundus EMLE Scholarship 2025:

We admit students possessing a minimum of 240 ECTS (equivalent to four years) of previous higher education. This might have been achieved by a three-year bachelor’s program followed by a first master’s degree, or via a four-year bachelor’s program. For additional information regarding the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).

Degree in Law and/or Economics

  • Priority will be accorded to those possessing a background in law and/or economics.

Alternative Degree

Applicants possessing degrees outside of law and/or economics may also apply, provided they demonstrate in their motivation letter a distinct interest in the economic analysis of law and articulate a clear understanding of the approach they intend to adopt within the EMLE program.  If you are uncertain about the eligibility of your degree, please reach out to us at application@emle.org.

Degree Candidates

Students who have not graduated but anticipate graduating before July of the program’s commencement may also apply to the EMLE program. If a student is chosen for the program, it is contingent upon their submission of a diploma copy prior to mid-July. The candidate assumes all risk by applying without a completed degree.

Categories of Applications

European Union Member States and third countries affiliated with the Program

For application reasons, “European” students possess a passport from an EU Member State or a third country affiliated with the Program:

Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden, North Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey

Non-associated third nations to the Program

All remaining applicants are classified as “non-European” students for application reasons.

Dual citizenship

Applicants possessing dual citizenship may submit their application under either citizenship; however, they must select one application category. One cannot apply simultaneously as both a “European” and “non-European” student, and the category cannot be altered post-submission of the application.

Necessary Documentation:

Degree Certificate

  • Every student is required to submit two documents for each degree.
  • A degree certificate indicating that the student has fulfilled the requirements of the specified program and has been awarded the corresponding degree.
  • An official degree addendum or transcript detailing the grades achieved during the program.
  • If your studies are incomplete at the time of application, please include a comprehensive transcript of your marks to date.

Motivational Letter

The motivation letter is the primary indicator of your dedication to and comprehension of the study of Law & Economics.  In your motivation letter to the reviewing committee, please elucidate your interest in Law & Economics broadly and the EMLE Program specifically (one page). Kindly restrict your response to a single document, not exceeding one page, entitled “Letter of Motivation.”

Recommendation Letter

Each student is required to submit a minimum of one (ideally two) letter(s) of recommendation. Acceptable recommenders include employers or, ideally, academic instructors, given that this is an academic program. Recommenders must utilize the standardized EMLE form provided inside the application form. Recommendation letters may be solicited electronically throughout the online application process by utilizing the recommenders’ professional email addresses. You will receive an automatic email notification upon the submission of your recommenders’ letters. Letters of recommendation submitted directly by candidates are not accepted!

Application procedure for applying for the Erasmus Mundus EMLE Scholarship 2025

  • Complete Online Application: Access the official Erasmus Mundus EMLE Scholarship website and fill out the online application form.
  • Submit Documents: Ensure all necessary documents are uploaded to the application portal prior to the deadline.
  • Application Assessment: Following submission, the selection committee will appraise your application based on academic credentials, motivation, and program relevance.
  • Await Notification: If chosen, you will receive information regarding the scholarship offer and further procedures.

Submission Due Date:

The deadline to apply for the Erasmus Mundus EMLE Scholarship 2025 is January 15, 2025.

Enrollment Schedule

  • March: Admission letters have been dispatched.
  • April: Upon availability of free capacities: acceptance of the waiting list. Confirmation of enrollment by the remittance of the initial tuition cost installment.
  • May: Remittance of the second installment of the tuition charge. Deadline for the submission of English language competence evidence and other requisite documents.
  • June: First-term universities communicate with the students. Verify visa protocols and prerequisites.
  • July: Verification of the successful initiation of the visa application process.
