Eligibility Requirements
In order to apply for the ZUST scholarship, applicants need to:
- Must be a non-Chinese national between the ages of 16 and 35 (extended to 45 for current teachers).
- Maintain good physical and mental wellness and possess a clear criminal record.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for Chinese language teaching and associated activities.
- Be academically proficient and comply with Chinese laws and university rules.
- For applicants seeking a Bachelor’s degree, the age typically should not be older than 25.
Program Categories at ZUST
1. Master’s in International Chinese Language Teaching
- Begins: September 2025
- Duration: Maximum of 2 years
- Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree
- HSK Level 5 (≥210), HSKK Intermediate (≥60)
- Preference given to individuals with a teaching contract or job obligation.
2. Annual Study Program
- Begins: September 2025
- Length: 11 months
- Program focus leads to varying requirements:
- Global Chinese Language Teaching: HSK Level 3 (≥270) + HSKK
- Chinese Language & Literature/History/Philosophy: HSK Level 4 (≥180) and HSKK Intermediate
- Chinese Language Studies: HSK Level 3 (≥210) + HSKK is desirable.
3. Single-Semester Academic Course
- Begins: September 2025 or March 2026
- Length: 5 months
- Requirements: HSK Level 3 (≥180) + HSKK for all fields of study.

Application Deadlines
For programs starting in September 2025 at Zhejiang University of Science and Technology (ZUST), the application cutoff is May 15, 2025, and all Recommending Institutions and Host Institutions should finish their review by May 25, 2025. Applicants for the March 2026 intake need to submit their applications by October 31, 2025, with the review process completed by November 10, 2025.
