Study in China | HUST Fully Funded Scholarships 2026

Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) has opened its 2026 admissions cycle for international graduate students, inviting high-achieving applicants from across the globe to pursue master’s and PhD programs in Wuhan. The new intake combines selective academic evaluations with strong funding opportunities, especially through the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC Type B). As one of China’s most research-active universities, HUST continues to attract future scholars who want advanced training, modern facilities, and minimal financial burden during their graduate studies.

The 2026 application window closes on March 1, 2026, giving prospective students several months to prepare documents, meet language requirements, and select suitable academic programs. HUST’s long-standing participation in the CSC program positions the university as a top destination for international students aiming for affordable, fully supported postgraduate education in Asia.

Comprehensive Scholarship Support at HUST

Many international applicants choose HUST because of its generous funding options. Through the CSC Type B program (Agency Number: 10487), qualified students may receive a full financial package that includes:

  • Complete tuition fee waiver for the entire duration of the degree
  • Free on-campus housing in single or double rooms equipped with air conditioning, hot water, WiFi, and essential furniture
  • Monthly stipend for living expenses, with higher amounts allocated to PhD students
  • Comprehensive medical insurance for each academic year

This scholarship structure allows students to focus fully on their research and academic progression without worrying about major expenses.

Available Graduate Programs and Language Options

HUST welcomes applicants into a wide academic spectrum at both the master’s and doctoral levels. Popular fields include:

  • Engineering and advanced technology
  • Natural sciences such as physics, chemistry, and mathematics
  • Economics and management
  • Literature, law, and education
  • Medicine and biomedical sciences

Students may choose either Chinese-medium or English-medium programs, depending on their background and language proficiency. Most Chinese-taught master’s programs span three years, while many English-taught tracks take two years. Doctoral programs typically run for four years.

Eligibility Requirements for 2026 Applicants

For 2026 entry, HUST requires strong academic preparation and evidence of research readiness. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Master’s applicants: bachelor’s degree, GPA equivalent to 3.0/4.0 (or 75 percent), and age below 35
  • PhD applicants: master’s degree, equivalent GPA standard, and age below 40
  • Language qualification:
  • Chinese-taught programs require HSK 4 for science and engineering, and HSK 5 for social sciences and humanities
  • English-taught programs generally require TOEFL 80, IELTS 6.0, GRE 310, or equivalent proof
  • Applicants whose previous degree was taught entirely in English or Chinese may request exemption

How to Apply

Applicants begin by creating an account on the HUST Online Application System. After selecting a program and language track, candidates upload academic records, personal information, and required documents. The university also schedules an online language test to confirm proficiency.

Next, the relevant department reviews the full application, including transcripts, research proposal, motivation letter, and supporting materials. Strong candidates receive a Pre-admission Letter confirming preliminary acceptance.

Students seeking CSC funding then submit a separate application on the CSC portal under Program Category Type B, using HUST’s Agency Number 10487.

Once all reviews are completed, HUST issues the official Admission Notice and the JW visa form, enabling successful applicants to apply for a student visa in their home country.
