Study In Australia: Murdoch University MRIWA Odwyn Jones $139,677 PhD Scholarship 2025

The Mining Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA) is pleased to introduce the Odwyn Jones PhD Scholarship for 2025, an esteemed yearly grant aimed at promoting innovative research in the mining sector.

This fellowship, named after Emeritus Professor Odwyn Jones AO, a renowned figure in mining research and teaching in Western Australia, provides outstanding individuals with the chance to undertake a PhD program at any university in Western Australia.

The program offers a substantial scholarship of up to $139,677, which includes an annual stipend and research funds. This financial support aims to enable students to develop creative solutions for the mining industry. Both local and international students that exhibit exceptional academic accomplishments, research aptitude, and a persuasive research project are eligible to apply. The submission must be completed by September 30, 2024.

Murdoch University’s main campus in Perth is one of the largest urban campuses in Australia, featuring a functional farm and a significant area of untouched bushland abundant with distinct animals.

Boola Katitjin, located at the center of the campus, is a vibrant educational facility that integrates contemporary, eco-friendly architecture and advanced digital technologies. Murdoch University’s Mandurah site, located in Perth’s southern corridor, offers nursing programs that are taught in advanced simulation suites. Additionally, our Rockingham campus is home to our pro bono law clinic and a number of other very effective enabling programs.

Documents that are necessary or mandatory

• Documentation of IELTS (or a comparable test) is required, if relevant.
• Official academic transcript(s) that demonstrate completion of a qualifying bachelor’s degree
• Two references from academics who are knowledgeable about your current research
• Verification of application for a doctoral or other pertinent program at the selected host university

Method of payment

Upon the successful applicant’s continuous acceptance and adherence to the terms and circumstances, stipend payments up to $40,739 per year will be given every two weeks.

The host institution will provide funding of up to $5,820 per year to support the research program.
