The PERI-ACE Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme Scholarship 2027 is a prestigious, fully funded scholarship programme that promotes African students, emerging researchers, and university personnel through academic mobility across the continent.

The Partners Enhancing Resilience through African Centres of Excellence (PERI-ACE) project aims to boost collaboration between African universities and create chances for more studies, internships, and academic exchanges, with support between African universities and opportunities for further studies, internships, and academic exchanges, with funding from the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme.

The programme will selectively fund at least 40 scholarships for emerging scholars at master’s and doctoral levels, as well as traineeships and staff mobility schemes, to build employability, research capacity, and academic leadership across Africa.

Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

1. Applicants must:

  • Be a citizen and resident of an African country.
  • Meet the eligibility requirements for the mobility category they select.

A. Master’s and Doctoral Mobility

To be eligible, applicants need to:

  • Be enrolled in or admitted to a university located in Africa, or
  • Have a university degree from an African higher learning institution.
  • This mobility may consist of either the following:
  • Short-term academic exchanges
  • The complete length of a master’s or PhD programme.

B. Traineeship Mobility

Traineeship applicants should:

  • Be enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD programme.
  • Study at an African higher education institution participating in one of the selected Intra-Africa consortia.
  • Complete their placement in a country different from both their nationality and residence.
  • Traineeships take place in public or private enterprises and give students significant international job experience.

Target Groups of PERI-ACE

Applicants for mobility at the master’s and doctoral levels are among the two target categories.

Target Group 1

Students who:

  • Registered, admitted or graduated from a core African institution within the PERI-ACE consortium.

Target Group 2

Students who are

  • Registered, admitted or graduated from another eligible African higher education institution that is not part of the PERI-ACE consortium.

Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme Scholarship Benefits

The PERI-ACE Scholarship offers financial support to enable participants to concentrate on their educational and professional growth.

Funding for successful applications will cover:

  • Travel expenses
  • Visa application fees
  • Monthly living allowance
  • Accommodation support
  • Subsistence costs throughout the mobility period
