The Oncology Medical Social Worker is in charge of offering clients with cancer of all ages, their families, and designated groups specialized oncology social work care.

The incumbent will receive continuous clinical supervision and direction through matrix relationships formed within the NTHSSA Clinical Integration team and will report administratively to the Territorial Specialist, Cancer Care. The incumbent will coordinate and guide the care of individuals and families affected by cancer in the NWT throughout their cancer journey in partnership with the Cancer Nurse Navigator.

Generally, the aforementioned requirements would be fulfilled by: a social work bachelor’s degree, with a master’s degree desirable; five (5) years or more of experience providing clinical counseling in a healthcare setting; two years or more of experience providing clinical counseling in a cancer care setting preferred.

Yearly registration and continuing competency through the Registrar, Professional Licensing of the GNWT, and Department of Health and Social Services are required.
