Job Duties

In your role as Senior Medical Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing clinical teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Conducting comprehensive medical assessments and formulating treatment plans.
  • Overseeing the delivery of safe, effective, and culturally sensitive healthcare.
  • Mentoring and supporting Health Service Medical Practitioners and Resident Medical Officers.
  • Collaborating with nursing, midwifery, and allied health professionals to improve service delivery.
  • Driving initiatives for clinical governance and quality improvement.
  • Providing strategic advice on medical workforce management and clinical education.

Job Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold unrestricted General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Have a minimum of two years of clinical experience in Australia or a recognized Competent Authority country.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical and leadership skills in high-pressure environments.
  • Commit to improving Aboriginal health outcomes and providing culturally responsive care.
  • Possess a valid Police Check and undergo a satisfactory Pre-Employment Health Assessment.

Desirable Qualifications

Additional qualifications that may enhance your application include:
