About the Role

You will own multi-payload missions from concept through recovery entirely. This includes designing mechanisms, structures, and electromechanical assemblies for spacecraft. Additionally, you will perform structural, thermal, and fluid analyses independently. You will also lead mission operations and post-flight hardware teardown work. This role is based fully on-site at Varda’s El Segundo facility. Mentoring entry-level engineers is also part of ongoing responsibilities.

Job Duties

• Own multi-payload missions from concept through recovery stages
• Lead design of mechanisms, structures, and electromechanical assemblies
• Perform structural, thermal, and fluid analyses independently
• Build, instrument, and test prototypes and flight hardware
• Coordinate cross-functional inputs across avionics and systems teams
• Lead mission operations and post-flight hardware teardown work
• Mentor entry-level engineers and interns within the team

Job Requirements

• BS or BEng in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field
• 4+ years of experience with electromechanical hardware design
• Strong mechanical expertise with breadth in an adjacent discipline
• Experience delivering hardware into rigorous aerospace environments
• Ability to independently manage schedules and deliver hardware
• Experience with aerospace environmental testing is a plus
• Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance is a plus
