About the Role

You will own multi-payload missions from concept through recovery entirely. This includes designing mechanisms, structures, and electromechanical assemblies for spacecraft. This role is based fully on-site at Varda’s El Segundo facility. Mentoring entry-level engineers is also part of ongoing responsibilities.

Job Duties

  • Own multi-payload missions from concept through recovery stages
  • Lead design of mechanisms, structures, and electromechanical assemblies
  • Perform structural, thermal, and fluid analyses independently
  • Build, instrument, and test prototypes and flight hardware
  • Coordinate cross-functional inputs across avionics and systems teams
  • Lead mission operations and post-flight hardware teardown work
  • Mentor entry-level engineers and interns within the team

Job Requirements

  • BS or BEng in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field
  • 4+ years of experience with electromechanical hardware design
  • Strong mechanical expertise with breadth in an adjacent discipline
  • Experience delivering hardware into rigorous aerospace environments
  • Ability to independently manage schedules and deliver hardware
  • Experience with aerospace environmental testing is a plus
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance is a plus
