SEED 2023, Canada: Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges Development

The Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) initiative was launched by the Canadian government on August 6, 2017. With the aim of reducing poverty in ASEAN’s developing countries, the program’s objective is to enable students from ASEAN member countries to conduct short studies or research at Canadian post-secondary institutions in fields that support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Through interpersonal ties, SEED scholarships and educational exchanges will assist achieve all of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and improve Canada’s relations with the Indo-Pacific region.

SEED scholarships are created through collaboration between post-secondary schools in Canada and their ASEAN counterparts in order to accomplish these goals.

A short-term exchange program, the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development Program is a part of Global Affairs Canada’s International Scholarships Program.

College Degree:

Available to pursue Master’s and Undergraduate level studies at the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development SEED 2023.

Advantages of the scholarship

  • Funding in part up to $15,900.

Selected students may spend their scholarship money on:

  • Fees for obtaining a visa or a job or study permit Airfare via the shortest, most practical route
  • Health coverage
  • Ground transportation, including public transportation passbooks and supplies needed for their study or research, excluding computers and other equipment housing expenditures, such as lodging, utilities, and meals

Institutions in Canada are qualified to receive:

  • In some situations, reimbursement of additional employer compliance fees is paid to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada.
  • $500 per scholarship recipient to help with administrative costs after the student arrives in Canada.

China Shanghai Government Scholarship 2023–2024

Nationalities that qualify:

  • Citizens of ASEAN member states are eligible for this scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to qualify, you must:

  • A national of an ASEAN member nation
  • Malaysia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, or Vietnam. Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos (Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR)), Malaysia, or Brunei Darussalam.
  • An ASEAN member state student who is enrolled full-time in a post-secondary institution
  • Paying tuition to that institution both when you apply and throughout your exchange period.

Ineligible students for this grant include those who:

  • already have Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, or you are applying for it.
  • already take part in a scholarship program supported by the Canadian government.
  • have already begun a degree, diploma, or certificate program at a post-secondary school in Canada.
  • have already been awarded a scholarship through the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development Program.

In order to host students, Canadian postsecondary institutions must:

Have a current student exchange agreement with the student’s home institution that waives tuition costs for scholarship recipients (needed for college/undergraduate studies only); be a Designated Learning Institute (DLI).

University of Canberra Scholarships for 2023–24 (Australia)

Application Methodology:

Instructions for Canadian colleges submitting applications on behalf of qualified students

  • Charge an application coordinator with completing the forms.
  • To apply for the scholarship on behalf of students, log in or create an account on Momentum.
  • Select the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) under “For Non-Canadians” and click “Apply Now” after logging into your account.
  • Provide data in the fields labeled as required, then complete each item’s instructions.
  • Submit any necessary supplementary materials. Each file must be less than 5 MB in size and be in one of the following formats: pdf, jpeg, doc, docx, txt, or gif.
  • Check the data before submitting it.
  • Choose “SUBMIT.” For applications that you’ve submitted, you’ll get a confirmation message and a reference number.
  • Print the form using the browser’s print feature for your records.
