SBP Africa Limited seeks an accomplished Safety Manager to lead our comprehensive occupational health and safety program at our Kaase manufacturing facility. Role Overview

As our Safety Manager, you will develop, implement, and maintain robust safety systems across all manufacturing operations. You will direct a team of safety professionals while fostering a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement. This position demands both strategic planning capabilities and hands-on approach to risk management in a dynamic production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Systems & Policy Management

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedural guidelines
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Maintain and update safety documentation and compliance records
  • Establish performance metrics and safety monitoring systems

Risk Assessment & Hazard Control

  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential workplace hazards
  • Implement effective control measures to mitigate operational risks
  • Develop emergency response plans and business continuity protocols
  • Monitor workplace conditions and recommend protective equipment requirements

Incident Management & Investigation

  • Lead thorough incident investigations and root cause analyses
  • Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of safety incidents
  • Prepare detailed reports for management and regulatory authorities
  • Maintain incident tracking systems and trend analysis

Training & Team Development

  • Design and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels
  • Manage and mentor safety team members across departments
  • Promote safety awareness through regular communications and workshops
  • Coordinate safety committee meetings and employee engagement initiatives

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct regular safety audits and facility inspections
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO 45001, and other relevant standards
  • Identify opportunities for safety process enhancement
  • Implement safety performance improvement initiatives

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline
  • Professional certifications (NEBOSH, ISO 45001, OSHA, or ILO)
  • Minimum 3-4 years of safety management experience in food/beverage manufacturing
  • Demonstrated team management or safety leadership experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards

Technical Competencies:

  • Risk assessment and hazard analysis expertise
  • Incident investigation and root cause analysis skills
  • Safety training development and delivery capabilities
  • Audit and inspection procedural knowledge
