Job Duties

In the role of Rheumatology Consultant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing ongoing care for patients under your supervision.
  • Collaborating with consultant colleagues to ensure seamless clinical service delivery.
  • Meeting waiting list targets as part of the clinical team.
  • Continuously updating your education in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine (GiM).
  • Participating in the training of medical students, postgraduate doctors, and other healthcare professionals.

Job Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Essential Education and Experience
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Completion of CCST in Rheumatology (or within three months of the interview date).
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) from the UK or Ireland.
  • Clinical training equivalent to that required for gaining the UK CCST.
  • Ability to independently manage the clinical care of patients.
Desirable Qualifications
  • A PhD or MD in a relevant field.
  • Established expertise in a specialist area of rheumatology.
  • Experience in clinical trial design and execution.
  • Original research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Essential Skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in Office applications and IT-based patient information systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
