Following the confirmation of the first COVID-19 case in the Upper East Region, details are beginning to emerge on why the patient who has tested positive for the virus absconded from the Upper East Regional hospital.

The 33-year-old Ghanaian woman with no travel history out of the country first visited the Region’s referral hospital on 28th March, 2020.

Information gathered by MyNewsGh.com from hospital sources say though she was first admitted to the maternity ward of the hospital because she is 30 weeks pregnant, symptoms she exhibited were consistent with COVID-19, so she was quickly moved to an isolated ward within the maternity block of the hospital.

It has emerged that the pregnant patient came to the Upper East region from Tarkwa on 27th March, 2020, a day before she reported to the hospital.

Samples were taken and sent to the KCCR test centre in Kumasi. The samples collected formed part of then 15 samples that were collected within the region for test.

Meanwhile, checks by this news portal revealed that the husband of the patient who felt infuriated by the neglect of his wife by health staff at the facility, angrily packed her belongings and headed for home. This happened on Thursday April 2, 2020. A day before the release of her test results.

Ghana is the most non serious country in the world. Our leaders are not helping at all. Covid 19 could have not entered this country at all if they had done their work well. The closure of the boarders is taking effect on tomorrow. A dangerous person with this deadly covid 19 could even enter here before the closure of the boarders. Why not today but tomorrow? Eiiiii
