A retired pastor of The Church of Pentecost identified as Pastor Ayi Mantey has accidentally shot himself to death in his home at Asamankese in the Eastern Region.
The terrible incident that led to the death of the retired pastor, happened on Wednesday, April 28, 2021,
According to a Starrfm report, the man of God mistakenly discharged his registered gun into himself while patrolling the compound of his house “to scare away thieves who have recently made the house a target.”
“After the rains, he took his gun and was patrolling around. But while walking, he knocked an object on the ground and was falling but inadvertently pressed on the trigger and the gun went off hitting his armpit. I rushed him to the hospital but he died later,”Samuel Mantey, the son of the retired pastor told Starr news.
Confirming the incident, the Asamankese Divisional Police Commander, A.C.P Akwasi Kankam Boadu said the police were informed about the incident and rushed in to take the retired pastor to the Asamankese Government Hospital.
Pastor Ayi Mantey aged 78, died upon reaching the hospital.
