About Role

The Resident Medical Officer will provide safe, high-quality patient care under appropriate supervision across a network of metropolitan and rural hospitals. Through the Prevocational Training Network (Network 12), HNELHD supports Interns and RMOs with structured education, mentorship, and supervised clinical practice. Responsibilities

  • Provide supervised assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients across assigned rotations
  • Deliver safe and high-quality medical care in accordance with clinical governance standards
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions and patient care planning
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and medical records
  • Engage in rostered rotations including Surgery, Medicine, Psychiatry, Emergency, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Critical Care
  • Participate in teaching, mentoring, and continuing professional development programs
  • Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management initiatives

Requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree
  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (General Registration or minimum Level 2 supervision under Limited/Provisional Registration)
  • Completion of required postgraduate years in an acute hospital setting (as per pathway eligibility)
  • AMC Part 1 Certificate (Part 2 if available) for Standard Pathway applicants
  • Valid English language assessment (IELTS, OET, or PTE) where applicable
  • Current unrestricted driver’s license and access to a private vehicle
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a supervised clinical environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills aligned with AHPRA standards
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and patient-centered care
