As a Resident Engineer, you will serve as the key link between project stakeholders, contractors, and the engineering team. Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary connection between project stakeholders and the engineering team
  • Oversee construction implementation, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities
  • Ensure projects meet quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage project schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
  • Lead and manage local roadway and state DOT (UDOT) construction projects
  • Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, designers, and agency representatives
  • Provide technical guidance and resolve on-site engineering and construction issues
  • Ensure compliance with UDOT standards, safety requirements, and best practices
  • Prepare and review reports, documentation, and project records
  • Represent the client and the firm during construction meetings and site activities

Requirements

  • Utah Professional Engineer (PE) License (required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • UDOT CEMT Certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
  • 8+ years of recent experience on highway/DOT projects
  • Strong background in roadway construction and construction engineering management
  • Proven experience managing engineering projects, schedules, and budgets
  • Solid knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site as required
  • Experience with UDOT design and construction standards (strong advantage)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a criminal background check and driving record review
