Duties and Responsibilities
As a registered nurse, you will have significant responsibilities, including evaluating candidates for community services and nursing homes. Your role will involve assessing care quality and recommending suitable placements. Key responsibilities include:
- Candidate Evaluations: Coordinate and conduct comprehensive assessments for those seeking employment in nursing facilities and community-based services.
- Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration: Collaborate with healthcare professionals to determine appropriate levels of care for clients.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate medical records for clients, ensuring they are current and precise.
- Data Management: Collect, report, and follow up on data according to CARES policies, inputting information into the Client Information and Registration Tracking System (CIRTS).
- Support During Evaluations: Assist in making Title XIX Level of Care decisions as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Preadmission Screening: Ensure the Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) process is completed before issuing Level of Care decisions.
- Training and Development: Provide medical training to staff on topics relevant to geriatric care.
- Continuous Learning: Stay informed about CARES operations and applicable state and federal laws through ongoing education.
- Emergency Preparedness: Help with disaster recovery efforts and discharge planning for special needs shelters during emergencies.
