Job Purpose:

To make a straight or slanted hole from one level of an underground mining development to the next.

Roles：

The person who gets the job will have to do the following, among other things:

• Fix chains for ways to get out
• Move materials to and from underground work sites and build escape tubes.
• Move lifts, pushing legs, and other equipment to and from underground work sites.
• Stope rises by drilling and blasting.
• Drill and blast up the exit way.
• Drill and blast holes for ways to get out.
• Set up the winch and the exit routes.
• The charge and blast slot stops working.
• Drill holes for eyebolts so that pipes can be put in.
• Set up chains and tubes for exit routes.
• Do any other jobs that your boss gives you.

Needed Qualifications and Experience:

• Applicants should have at least an MSLC or BECE and at least 10 years of experience working underground.
• Must have a certificate of fitness from the Mine Inspectorate in Ghana for blasting.
• First-Aid Certificate that is valid.
• Ghanaian or International Driver’s License

Knowledge Skills and Ability：

• Ability to read and understand plans for ground support design.
• Ability to use your own judgment and discretion within set rules, guidelines, and processes.
• Must be aware of safety, health, and environmental problems in the workplace.
• Must be able to meet schedules and goals for operations.
• Must be able to talk to people in English in a useful way.
