Ghanaian vocalist Ethel Esi Eshun commonly known as Queen eshun has disclosed that Wendy Shay cannot call herself the queen of Ghana music until she proves she deserves it.
Speaking in an interview with Ghbase.com, closely monitored my NewsnowGh, the songwriter expressed her love and admiration for Wendy Shay and her good tunes. When asked if she agrees that the Emergency hit maker is the “Queen of Ghana music”, Queen eshun refused to take a stance. She chose to be neutral saying that if Queen Shay wishes to be recognized as the “Queen of Ghana Music” the she has to prove to everyone that she deserves it.
Using Sarkodie and Shatta Wale as examples, she outlined that, back in the day the two called themselves King Sark and dancehall King respectively. She furthered that no one can say they are not kings because they have proven beyond reasonable doubts that they are real kings in their own ways; therefore, wendy Shay would have to do same to merit the tittle.
The Hancuff singer added that, she is not after self-acclaimed tittles but all she desires is for her works to speak for her. She hinted that she plans on working with some of the female artistes in Ghana. Queen eshun complained about the lack of support in the female music. She also added that if female artistes support each other they would win together rather than lose.
