  1. RESEARCH OFFICER

JOB PURPOSE

To provide operational support in all research-related projects and activities in the Commission.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collects relevant data to facilitate the development of concepts papers/proposals in the Directorate;
  • Provides inputs for the development of data collection instruments;
  • Collects required data on salaries, allowances and other conditions of service using appropriate instruments;
  • Provides input for the creation of a database for data storage and management;
  • Prepares draft research reports for the attention of supervisor;
  • Provides data for preparation of handbook and manuals for research and operations;
  • Provides inputs for the preparation of annual and other periodic reports of the Directorate;
  • Collects and collates inputs for the preparation of the annual budget and work plan of the Directorate.

2. ADMINISTRATION OFFICER

JOB PURPOSE

To provide operational, administrative and secretarial support to the Finance and Administration(F&A) Directorate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Arranges venues for all programmes and meetings under the F&A Directorate;
  • Prepares draft memos and letters of all correspondence emanating from the F&A Directorate;
  • Ensures timely dispatch of letters and all correspondence emanating from the F&A Directorate;
  • Tracks, scans and files all correspondence and records of the F&A Directorate;
  • Collates inputs for the preparation of draft quarterly and annual reports of the Directorate.

3. PROCUREMENT ASSISTANT

JOB PURPOSE

To provide maintenance of an effective and effective inventory in the Commission.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains an inventory control system for the Commission’s stores;
  • Implements a system to ensure that goods are properly received, stored and distributed from the Commission’s stores and properly recorded;
  • Conducts timely requisition for supplies of materials and equipment to ensure that adequate inventory levels are maintained to meet the needs of the Commission;
  • Provides timely feedback to supervisor on the conditions of goods received at the store, in case there are any defects;
  • Ensures compliance with Government Health and Safety procedures and standards and regulations related to work performed to minimise potential accidents, injuries or hazards in the stores;
  • Prepares and update Asset Register for the Commission for the attention of the Deputy Director, HR and !ration through the Head of the Procurement

4. DRIVER

JOB PURPOSE

To provide transport support services to facilitate the achievement of the Commission’s mandate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conveys officials, goods or equipment to and from designated locations;
  • Conducts daily checks on the vehicle to ensure safety;
  • Implements regulations and procedures on daily vehicle movement log/register
  • Promptly reports all faults (major or minor) to supervisor for further action;
  • Liaises with supervisor to ensure that all vehicle documentation ie, Road Worthiness Certificate and insurance are renewed on time;
  • Provides prompt reminder to supervisor on scheduled maintenance/services of the vehicle.

5. SENIOR LEGAL OFFICER

JOB PURPOSE

To supports the Legal Unit in providing legal services to the Commission.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides inputs for the formulation and implementation of policies and guidelines on legal services;
  • Supervises the preparation of legal documents such as communiques, agreements and cabinet memoranda for the Head of Legal Services;
  • Represents the Commission in court, the National Labour Commission and in all judicial bodies as may be required;
  • Coordinates the collection and collation of data for all legal proceedings involving the Commission;
  • Supervises the processes for the resolution of cases that may not require court action;
  • Advises the Commission on judgments and orders of the Court or rulings of the National Labour Commission (NLC);
  • Prepares draft legal letters to parties in matters in which the Commission is involved;
