Program Coordinator at Center for Achievement

Center for Achievement is a non-government organization (NGO) in Ho, Ghana, that focuses on education. Its goal is to help young people become socially responsible citizens and leaders in their communities. Through our programs, we want to improve the lives of young people in the Volta region and give them more opportunities. We also help with community development projects. Our job is to give young people the tools they need to deal with the challenges of life, have good values, and do what they can to help other people.

Community programs and projects at CFA give Path to Success students and student-interns a chance to get real-world work experience and feel good about helping other people.

Job Summary  

As Program Coordinator, you will work directly with the Country Director to make sure that all CFA programs run smoothly and have the most positive effect possible.

Programs are made to help our Path to Success students grow, and the students, in turn, work on programs that help the community grow. You will be the main point of contact for CFA and Path students working in local communities and representing the organization. You will build strong relationships with CFA stakeholders and beneficiaries and run effective programs that have a positive effect on everything we do.

Key Responsibilities

Making plans and carrying them out:

  • Helps make tools, manuals, and training materials that are needed to put the project into action.
  • Secondly, Takes the lead in meetings to raise awareness in the community and help identify, mobilize, and involve groups.
  • Helps implement project activities by providing technical and facilitation support and making sure that community and district stakeholders are involved in order to get the expected results.
  • Then, Helps to hold regular reviews, reflections, and planning meetings with communities, implementing partners, and other stakeholders to help shape project strategies.
  • Also, Works closely with youth in CFA communities to give them the tools they need to use their voices to bring about change in their communities.
  • Builds relationships with community, government, and other non-profit groups to raise money, build resources, and raise awareness.
  • Moreover, Builds a successful, communicative relationship between CFA and its communities that can be turned into programs.
  • Find and helps children who are at risk, and helps create a safe place for them to grow.
  • Lastly, Builds capacity with key players in child protection and creates programs for child welfare and development.

Growth of young people

  • Creates a safe, open space where young people can share their opinions, learn new skills, and try out new ideas without fear of being judged.
  • Works with the Country Director to create the Path to Success program, which helps people improve their leadership, personal, and work skills.
  • Gives advice and guides all PATH students with an eye toward their overall growth.

Checking and figuring out:

  • Sets project- and PATH-specific goals, benchmarks, and data that needs to be collected, tracked, and evaluated.
  • Makes sure that data is gathered and reported on time.
  • Makes sure programs stay on budget.
  • Sends in reports and analyses of the activities of the program
  • Sets up meetings every week, month, and quarter to check on programs.

Fundraising

  • Writes concept notes based on social problems that come up at work.
  • Looks into grant proposals and comes up with ways to get money.
  • Helps the media team spread the word about Pagus Africa/CFA so that people in other countries can see how our work is making a difference and want to help us. This can be done in writing, on video, or by showing how the CFA program has helped.

Needed Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Speak and write English fluently
  • Ewe speaker
  • At least 4 years of experience with NGOs, social work, or community work
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, or a field related to those
  • Skilled at running projects and writing reports
  • Know how to use email, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, and how to manage files. If you know how to use Office 360 and Sharepoint, that’s a plus.
  • Works well with others and likes being part of a team.
  • A strong interest in the growth of young people and communities, along with a strong desire to help them.
  • Good communication and people skills and a willingness to get things done.
  • Have worked with young people before
  • Sensitivity to issues related to gender and mental health

Desirable:

  • Must have a master’s degree in project management, social sciences, development studies, or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree and three years of work experience in any of the above fields.
  • Work experience in a multi-cultural setting

Type of agreement: A one-year contract that could be renewed based on how well it was done.
