POSITION: TRANSPORTATION AIDE
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Transportation Aide helps drivers with daily responsibilities such as loading and unloading items, guaranteeing on-time and safe deliveries, doing basic vehicle maintenance, and keeping the delivery vehicle clean. Also, the job involves physical strength to handle big and bulky objects, as well as attention to precision to stack parcels securely to avoid damage during shipment.
The Transportation Aide must also verify that the products are properly stacked in the van to avoid damage en route.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the driver in loading and unloading products into the truck.
- When loading or unloading cargo with a crane or forklift, act as a banksman.
- Assisting drivers in finding delivery sites.
- Help the driver handle traffic and prevent delays.
- Haul big loads with pallet jacks or other equipment as needed.
- Deliver goods to customers and receive proof of delivery when using third-party services.
- Assist with paperwork and record keeping as needed.
- Communicate efficiently with the driver, dispatch crew, and customers.
- Coordinating with the dispatch team to notify the driver of any changes in routes.
- Maintain equipment inventory and report any faults to the Fleet and Logistics Coordinator.
OSHA RESPONSIBILITIES
- Knowledge and adherence to all TAGG’s OHS&E procedures.
- Follow all safe work practices, rules, and directions pertaining to work.
- Hazard Identification and Reporting
- Wear adequate PPE for work at all times.
- Knowledge of the safe use of all tools and equipment, where applicable
Required Skill or Experience
- Qualification & Experience
- WASSCE or better.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Have good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Maintain a customer service-oriented approach.
- Physical Requirements
- Capable of regularly lifting, carrying, and moving large goods weighing up to 25 kg.
- Be physically fit and capable of enduring long hours of standing, walking, and moving large goods.
