POSITION: Chief Operating Officer

About Press Xpress

Press Xpress is a delivery and transport company that is growing into the mining of industrial minerals.  It is located in Takoradi, Ghana. We are dedicated to being environmentally friendly and dependable. We offer shipping services for our own company and others, and we are also growing in the area of eco-friendly mineral mining.

Job Summary

As we keep expanding, we are looking for a skilled Chief Operating Officer (COO) to manage our operations and help us achieve our goal of being the first eco-friendly haulage company in Ghana, focusing on mining industrial minerals.

As the COO, you will have an important job in running Press Xpress. You will report directly to the Managing Director and work with the leadership team. Your main job will be to make sure the company runs smoothly every day and to help develop a new mining business. The best candidate will be an energetic leader who gets results and has experience in managing operations, growing businesses, and building partnerships in the logistics, transportation, and sustainable mining industries.

Main Duties

• Watch over and manage the daily activities of Press Xpress’s logistics and mineral mining divisions, making sure everything runs smoothly, works well, and is done to a high standard.
• Create and use plans to increase business growth, reduce costs, and make things better all the time.
• Work together with the leadership team to set company goals and make sure all departments are on the same page.
• Keep an eye on important measures to see how well things are going and make sure the business goals are achieved.
• Create and oversee budgets and financial plans to help achieve goals.
• Make sure to follow industry rules, safety guidelines, and environmental policies.
• Guide and support teams from different areas to encourage new ideas, responsibility, and better work practices.
• Set up reliable systems for managing transportation and mining work to ensure they run smoothly all the time.
• Create a plan to regularly check and take care of trucks and mining machines before they break down.

New Business Growth in Mining (Main Focus) 

• Spearhead Press Xpress is growing its business by focusing on mining industrial minerals.
• They are looking for new opportunities, good places to mine, and possible partners.
• Take charge of finding new industrial mineral mining sites, making sure to carefully check and evaluate them to fit with the company’s plans.
• Build connections with agencies like the EPA, Minerals Commission, and local governments to get the required permits and follow all the rules.
• Create and carry out strong plans to help Press Xpress grow in the mining industry.
• Create connections with industry partners, mining contractors, and important people to help grow the business.
• Make sure that mining for industrial minerals is done in a way that is safe for the environment and follows the rules.

Customer Relations and Ways to Reach Them 

• Improve how we connect with customers by changing from casual talks to a more organized way of managing relationships with clients.
• Manage customer grouping plans for logistics and industrial mineral mining clients to make sure they get services that fit their needs.
• Set up a way to gather customer feedback to understand how happy they are and to make our services better.
• Set up ways to manage customer accounts to build lasting relationships and improve service dependability.
• Work on making customer support better by giving special account managers to important clients.

Customer Groups (Transport and Mining) 

Logistics Team: 

• Manufacturers and distributors need affordable and effective ways to transport large quantities of goods.
• Retail and wholesale businesses rely on good supply chain management.
• Construction companies need special transportation services to move heavy materials.
• Farmers and agribusinesses need flexible delivery options for their farm products.
• Online shopping and delivery services need quick and clear transportation options.

Mining Department: 

• Cement and ceramic makers need good materials to make their products.
• Construction companies need a lot of minerals for building projects.
• Government and public services need a lot of mining resources for development projects.
• Small and medium-sized manufacturing businesses need affordable raw materials that can be delivered with flexible agreements.

Strategic Planning & Execution

• Work together with the Managing Director and the leadership team to create and put into action the long-term plan for Press Xpress.
• Do market research and check what competitors are doing to find trends, risks, and chances for growth in logistics and mining.
• Find possible problems in operations and business growth, and put plans in place to reduce those risks.

Regulatory Compliance & Sustainability

• Make sure all work practices follow industry rules, protect the environment, and keep people safe.
• Use eco-friendly methods in transportation and mining of industrial minerals, and explore the possibility of earning carbon credits that can be sold globally.
• Create connections with government and community leaders to build a good reputation for being a responsible and sustainable business.

Key Qualifications:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, mining engineering, or a similar area. Higher degrees like an MBA or useful certificates are well respected.
• Experience: At least 10 years in a high-level job in logistics, transport, or mining, with proven skills in growing a business.
• Leadership Skills: Experienced in leading teams from different areas and helping them work well together.
• Strategic Thinking: Skill in creating and carrying out plans to improve logistics and grow mining operations.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to examine data, understand key performance indicators (KPIs), and use information to help reduce costs and make improvements.
• Communication: Good at talking and listening, skilled at negotiating, and able to build strong relationships with people inside and outside the organization.
• Problem-Solving: Strong skills in solving problems and coming up with creative answers to operational and business issues.

Work Hours and Travel Needs: 

• Work hours: Full-time job from Monday to Friday, with some weekends if needed.
• Travel: Regular trips to work sites, mining areas, and client offices when needed.

Skills: 

• Focused on getting results and improving operations for business growth.
• Good understanding of logistics, supply chain, and mining work.
• Showed dedication to eco-friendly practices and taking care of the environment.
• Being honest and having strong morals, encourages openness and responsibility.
