Job Duties of a Poultry Farm Worker

  • Assist with caring for, feeding, and watering ducks, turkeys, hens, and other birds.
  • Observe the health and welfare of the birds, and report to the supervisor any indications of illness or pain.
  • So that the birds can live in a hygienic and healthy environment, and maintain and clean the chicken coop.
  • Gather eggs and ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal.
  • Help with the raising of ducklings or chicks during their hatching.
  • Regularly check equipment such as waterers, feeders, and ventilation systems, and report any issues or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Maintain the farm’s infrastructure by making the necessary repairs to buildings, gates, and fences.
  • Make sure you abide by all safety regulations and biosecurity procedures to prevent the transmission of illness.
  • Tractors and other farm equipment, including power tools, need to be driven and maintained to ensure proper operation.
  • Collaborate with fellow agricultural laborers to complete tasks efficiently and on time.
