About the Scholarship
INOV is providing one fully funded Research Initiation Scholarship to assist early R&D efforts, aimed at reinforcing a candidate’s scientific training via active involvement in cutting-edge research. The emphasis is sharply defined: Mobile Computing within Computer Engineering, highlighting the creation of groundbreaking tools for users with vision impairments.
The scholarship is fully supported by INOV and will take place at their campus in Leiria, Portugal, with scientific oversight from Eng. Paulo Chaves.
Project Focus: Liber24 – Creating firmware and specialized applications for a cutting-edge Braille computer device featuring a 10″ portable display and an expanded high-contrast Braille keyboard.
What You Will Focus On
As the chosen recipient of the scholarship, you will:
- Examine and record the features of Android 10 that are particular to the Liber24 platform.
- Join special training and hands-on testing events.
- Create and evaluate innovative Android applications.
- Generate comprehensive technical reports and documentation for projects.
Scholarship Details
- Timeframe: 6 months (beginning May 2025)
- Monthly Payment: €651.12. You will receive it through a bank transfer
- Hosting Institution: INOV, Leiria, Portugal
- Scientific Field: Formal Sciences – Computer Engineering
This scholarship adheres to the most recent legal guidelines outlined in Portugal’s Research Fellow Law and the regulations set by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, you need to:
- Be registered in a higher technical professional course (ideally TeSP in Information Systems Programming).
- Possess robust academic qualifications and enthusiasm linked to mobile computing development.
- Show experience (even at a novice stage) relevant to the specified work plan.
