POSITION: Finance Officer

Job Description

Location: Wa, Upper West Region of Ghana.

Responsibilities include reporting to the Finance Manager, full-time employment, and job summary.

Pemcoa Consult is looking for a highly driven and detail-oriented Finance Officer to oversee financial management and reporting activities in our Washington office. The Finance Officer will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and the organization’s overall financial health.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Manage day-to-day financial activities, such as accounts payable, receivable, and payroll processing.
  • Maintain and update financial records (e.g., ledgers, invoices, and receipts) while ensuring data correctness in accounting systems.
  • Process financial transactions, such as payments to suppliers, employees, and business partners.
  • Monitor cash management, including disbursements and cash flow tracking.

Budgeting and Reporting

  • Assist with the creation of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance assessments.
  • Create monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor spending against project budgets and provide regular reports to program managers.
  • Help the Finance Manager create project-specific financial reports for donors and partners.

Compliance and Audit Support

  • Maintain compliance with internal financial policies and local requirements.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including paperwork and explanations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all financial records and transactions for auditing reasons.

Payroll & Tax Administration

  • Process payroll for employees, ensuring that wages, deductions, and benefits are calculated correctly.
  • Prepare and promptly submit tax returns, social security contributions, and other legislative requirements.
  • Keep up with changes in tax legislation and guarantee corporate compliance.

Risk Management

  • Assist in identifying potential financial risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to the creation and update of financial policies and processes.

Required Skill or Experience

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a similar discipline.
  • Professional accounting certification (ACCA, CIMA, or CA) is desirable.
  • A minimum of four years experience in financial management, accounting, or auditing.
  • Knowledge of Ghana’s tax laws and banking rules.
  • Knowledge of accounting software (such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Tally).
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
