POSITION: Cooperatives & Village Savings and Loans Officer

Job Responsibilities
We are looking for an enthusiastic and community-focused person to become part of our team as a cooperative & Village Savings and Loans Officer. This position requires collaboration with rural communities to support the creation and administration of village savings and loans groups, along with cooperative development. The perfect applicant will have a thorough knowledge of financial literacy, excellent interpersonal abilities, and a commitment to uplifting marginalized communities.
Key Duties
- Promote the establishment of Cooperative and village savings and loans associations in rural areas.
- Teach community members about financial management concepts, savings, and borrowing.
- Offer training and continuous assistance to group members regarding record maintenance, loan distribution, and repayment processes.
- Work alongside community leaders and organizations to recognize possible group members and create collaborations.
- Carry out routine monitoring visits to guarantee adherence to group regulations and financial openness.
- Help groups create business plans and obtain extra resources for activities that generate income.
- Keep precise documentation of group events, financial dealings, and effectiveness evaluations.
- Gather reports and documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a link between the organization and community savings and loans groups, resolving any problems or concerns that come up.
- Consistently assess the effectiveness of the program and recognize opportunities for enhancement.

Required Qualifications or Experience
- Male candidates are strongly encouraged and will receive top priority.
- HND or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, finance, economics, community development, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Prior experience in community development, microfinance, or a similar area is very beneficial.
- Deep knowledge of financial literacy concepts and experience engaging with underrepresented communities.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to successfully connect with various stakeholders.
- Fluency in regional languages used in rural areas is beneficial.
- Capability to operate autonomously in isolated, rural locations with minimal oversight.
- Robust organizational and problem-solving skills, with a focus on detail.
- Readiness to travel often within the designated areas.
- Dedication to the organization’s goal of empowering communities and enhancing financial inclusion.
