OINP reopens for permanent residency applications with points system changes
The OINP is open again for people to apply for permanent residency, but the points system has changed.
Changes to the points system indicate that Ontario’s state program for people who want to apply for permanent residency will reopen on Tuesday.
With the change in the way the NOCs are written down, the regional programs also had to stop for technology to be put in place. The OINP is now accepting applications again.
Check out these major changes:
- The Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills stream will not look at TEER (formerly NOC Skill Level) scores.
- The worker’s time in the job you’re offering will be worth points.
- Candidates will get more points for their study scores if they have schooling in engineering, math, computer science, or trades.
- The job offer location and study location, which used to only be “Outside of GTA” and “Inside of GTA,” will now be “Northern Ontario” (highest score), “Other Areas Except North” (average score), “Within GTA” (lowest score), and “Toronto” (no score).
