Non-EU/EEA KI Global Master’s Scholarships 2024
With pleasure, the Karolinska Institutet announces its scholarship program for outstanding overseas students wishing to join the institution’s Global Master’s Programs, which begin each autumn semester in Sweden and waive tuition fees till 2024. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the chance if they have earned a relevant bachelor’s degree.
As a university, Karolinska Institutet (KI) is the largest single hub for medical academic research in Sweden and provides the greatest selection of medical courses and programs in the nation. The institution takes great satisfaction in offering the world’s greatest environment for research and academic pursuits.
Grants and scholarships are given out by numerous Swedish, European, and worldwide foundations. There are differences in the regulations governing different scholarships and grants; some are meant to assist with living expenses, some to cover tuition fees (for non-EU/EEA nationals), and some to cover a range of educational expenses. Make sure you read the guidelines carefully and follow them to learn more about the different kinds of grants and scholarships that are available.

Details of the Scholarship

Eligibility Standards
Applicants must fulfill the following requirements in order to be eligible for the Karolinska Institutet Global Master’s Scholarships:
- Candidates ought to have applied to a global master’s program at Karolinska Institutet beginning in 2024.
- Students from outside the EU/EEA who pay tuition fees are eligible to apply.
- Candidates have to meet the admission and documentation requirements of the program for which they are applying.
- Candidates must have graduated from an accredited university with a suitable bachelor’s degree in hand with honors.
Benefits of Scholarships
- Only students enrolled in Global Master’s programs are eligible for the KI Global Master’s Scholarship, which pays for tuition.
- Funding sources other than travel and living expenditures must be used to cover other costs. To help with their costs, students are free to apply for additional financing sources.
Steps for Making Applications
- When applying for admission to the institute, all applicants must first select their first choice among the KI Global Master’s programs.
- The email address used to create their account will be used to encourage qualified individuals to submit an application for the award.
- Based on an overall evaluation of the candidate’s resume and credentials as submitted by University Admissions and assessed in relation to the application for a KI Global Master’s program, the applicant is chosen for further consideration.
What is covered by the KI Global Master’s scholarship?
The KI Global Master’s Scholarship only pays for tuition (or a portion of it for programs that Karolinska Institutet only partially offers). Costs for living, travel, and other expenses must be covered by additional funds. Additionally, please be aware that the KI Global Master’s Scholarship is not transferable to another school and exclusively pays for tuition for students enrolled in Karolinska Institutet’s Global Master’s Program.

- The opening date to apply to our global master’s program is October 7, 2023.
- Application closing date: January 15, 2024
- February 1, 2024, is the deadline for submitting supporting documentation and paying the application cost.
- Apply online for the scholarship offered by KI Global Programs between February 9 and 28, 2024.
- Selection notification for the Global Master’s Programs: March 21, 2024
- Selection for the scholarship notification: April 26, 2024

- The period to apply is February 9–28, 2024.
Process of selection
The applicant’s qualifications and curriculum vitae, which are provided through UniversityAdmissions and reviewed in relation to the application for a KI Global Master’s program, are the primary factors considered in the selection process.
KI-DIS Scholarship
A merit-based fellowship co-funded by KI, the KI-DIS Fellowship pays for the tuition for any of KI’s global master’s programs. A DIS graduate who studied in Copenhagen or Stockholm is eligible to apply for the grant each year.

For the KI – DIS Scholarship to be available to you, you must
- enrolled in a global master’s program offered by Karolinska Institutet beginning in 2024*
- be a student who pays tuition (from outside the EU/EEA)
- having completed their studies in Stockholm or Copenhagen with DIS
- have completed and submitted the application by February 1, 2024.
- Comply with all admission and paperwork criteria for the program you are applying to.
- The application process is limited to first-year students.
- *Note that the KTH Royal Institute of Technology offers courses in molecular techniques in life sciences, biostatistics, and data sciences; as such, they are not eligible for this fellowship.

Process of selection
The applicant’s qualifications and curriculum vitae, which are provided through UniversityAdmissions and reviewed in relation to the application for a KI Global Master’s program, are the primary factors considered in the selection process. The recipients of the fellowships will be contacted directly on April 26, 2024.
What does the Fellowship for KI-DIS cover?
The tuition for two semesters is covered by the KI-DIS Fellowship. Costs for living, travel, and other expenses must be covered by additional funds. For those accepted into our two-year programs, additional financing is required for their studies during the second year.
Note that the KI – DIS Fellowship is only good for tuition for students enrolled in Karolinska Institutet’s Global Master’s Program; it cannot be utilized for other courses.
