NGA Summer Internship 2027 in USA
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) invites eligible U.S. college students to apply for its Summer 2027 College Internship in the Contracts Career Field. This paid opportunity provides practical exposure to the full lifecycle of federal acquisitions within a national-security environment. Positions are available in Springfield, Virginia, and St. Louis, Missouri.
What the Internship Offers
Selected interns gain hands-on experience working alongside Contract Specialists who plan acquisitions, evaluate proposals, negotiate agreements, award contracts, and ensure contractor compliance. The internship covers key areas including acquisition planning, strategy development, vendor proposal evaluation, contract negotiation, and contract administration.
The advertised annual salary range across applicable NGA pay bands and locations is $27,108 to $101,097. Compensation depends on location and the level at which NGA appoints the candidate. This is not a telework-eligible position, and relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet strict mandatory criteria. You must be at least 18 years old at the time of application and a U.S. citizen. Candidates must currently enroll at least part-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university program with an anticipated graduation date of October 2027 or later. Your cumulative GPA must be 3.0 or higher, verified by your most recent transcript.
Additional requirements include:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance
- Willingness to undergo a counterintelligence polygraph examination and drug testing
- Experience providing clear verbal updates or explanations of routine information
- Experience identifying and gathering information to resolve routine problems
- Knowledge of fundamental artificial intelligence concepts or technologies
Preferred Academic Backgrounds
NGA identifies several academic areas aligning strongly with the Contracts Career Field. Students majoring in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Pre-Law, or Public Administration may find the internship particularly relevant. However, the agency welcomes applicants from related disciplines who demonstrate interest in government procurement, acquisition management, or public-sector commercial operations.
How to Apply
Submit your application electronically through NGA’s online recruitment process. Prepare a targeted two-page resume using the NGA resume builder, and consider including a focused cover letter explaining your interest in federal acquisitions and NGA’s mission. Upload proof of current enrollment, such as an unofficial transcript showing your GPA and graduation date.
Critical Deadline
The application window opens on August 31, 2026, and closes on September 30, 2026. Submit your complete application before this deadline, as late submissions will not receive consideration.
