POSITION: Head of Security 

Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL) is Ghana’s major alcoholic beverage corporation, with production sites in Kumasi and Accra.

GGBL has consequently developed a requirement for a Head of Security to drive and support compliance with the Global Risk Management Standards and Global Security Policy.

This job reports directly to GGBL’s Supply Director, with functional responsibility to the Head of Security, Africa.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Provide functional leadership, develop, and manage the performance of GGBL’s security team.
  • Conduct country and site security risk assessments, as well as security reviews and audits, to offer effective security risk mitigation measures.
  • Ensure that proper security policies, plans, and processes are in place across all GGBL enterprises to address a variety of risks, and that these are assessed on an ongoing basis.
  • Create and recommend operational and capital budgets for security.
  • Provide security briefings for overseas assignees, business travellers, executives, contractors, and employees.
  • Communicate with local law enforcement, outsourced security providers, and necessary consultants.
  • Implement and manage personal and home security protocols for overseas assignees and local employees as needed.
  • Choose and appoint security service providers in coordination with procurement management.
  • Handle private security contracts and monitor their performance.
  • Create and administer security training and awareness programs, prioritizing security awareness campaigns as critical.
  • Maintain a complete record of security incidents and other relevant data for learning and continuous development.
  • Coordinate and/or lead event security and executive protection.
  • Assist in the formulation (of security aspects) of GGBL’s crisis and business continuity plans, as well as serving on the country’s crisis management team.
  • Ensure that all GGBL security operations comply with the Group Security Standards, local and international laws and regulations, and the Code of Business Conduct.
  • Effectively managing brand protection risks and hazards in the market on an end-to-end basis, ensuring that effective early-warning systems exist to enable the timely implementation of mitigation plans.
  • Demonstrate excellent delivery of the Brand Protection agenda across Ghana to ensure that counterfeit issues are addressed proactively, utilizing the right resources and tactics.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • A degree in security, risk management, or business.
  • A appropriate tertiary qualification in a subject area linked to the function will be approved (for example, law, criminal justice, political science, international relations, etc.).
