POSITION: Section Operator I
Job Description
Gold Fields Ghana is inviting applications from motivated and qualified individuals for the role of Section Operator I. The successful candidate will report directly to the Section Operator II and play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and smooth plant operations.
Job Overview
As a Section Operator I, you will take charge of ensuring safe plant operation, maintaining clean and hazard-free circuits, and supporting maintenance activities across different sections. You will work closely with your supervisor and maintenance team to achieve production targets while upholding Gold Fields’ strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in all work areas.
- Keep circuits clean and free from spills or obstructions that can cause tripping hazards.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to execute repair and maintenance activities promptly.
- Carry out planned work in close coordination with the supervisor to meet operational goals.
- Identify and report any unsafe conditions or potential hazards that may impact production.
- Take initiative to introduce cost-saving ideas and contribute to productivity improvement projects.
- Ensure personal safety and look out for the safety of fellow team members at all times.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Section Operator II to support the smooth running of operations.
Candidate Profile
To succeed in this position, you must possess the right mix of experience, technical know-how, and strong interpersonal skills.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of a Senior High School Certificate from a recognized institution.
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience in plant or processing operations.
- A valid MINCOM Competency Certificate.
Technical and Behavioral Skills:
- Solid understanding of processing plants and related tools.
- Ability to identify operational risks and take quick corrective actions.
- Knowledge of plant repair and maintenance procedures.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize work effectively.
- Dependable, proactive, and flexible when adapting to new situations or challenges.
- Honest, reliable, and committed to delivering quality results.
