Position: Night Manager

Job Description

Become the cornerstone of overnight excellence as a Night Manager at Marriott Hotel. In this leadership role, you will act as the designated Manager on Duty, overseeing all property operations throughout the night shift. Your primary mission is to guarantee the highest standard of hospitality and service when the sun goes down. You will represent hotel management, resolving any guest or operational situations with professionalism and care. This position requires direct personal involvement in troubleshooting issues and ensuring all critical tasks reach completion.

Candidate Profile: Education and Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

A high school diploma or GED coupled with four years of experience in guest services, front desk operations, housekeeping, or a related professional area.
Alternatively, a two-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major, plus two years of experience in the aforementioned fields.

Core Work Activities and Responsibilities

Your role is multifaceted, focusing on operational oversight, financial stewardship, and team leadership.

Monitoring Nightly Property Operations

You will ensure all overnight activities adhere to the highest standards.
Monitor and enforce compliance with all operational guidelines and procedures.
Verify that all employees maintain proper uniform and grooming standards as outlined in the employee handbook.
Promote a safe working environment for all staff members.
Manage all period-end inventory counts with accuracy.

Supporting Financial and Revenue Objectives

You will contribute directly to the property’s financial health.
Analyze financial statements, sales reports, and performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Assist in responding to and resolving all guest concerns, whether received directly or from Guest Relations.
Support the accounts receivable process, helping to keep invoices current.
Monitor the timely processing of chargebacks and rebates, implementing actions to minimize them.
Ensure all staff follow correct cash handling procedures and meticulously track any overages or shortages.
Manage employee hours effectively to meet operational needs.

Leading Human Resources Initiatives

You will foster a positive, safe, and informed overnight team.
Encourage team participation in property safety programs.
Monitor employee attendance, recording absences and tardiness accurately.
Promote strong teamwork and boost employee morale.
Keep staff informed about new procedures, standards, or programs.
Assist supervisors with employee performance matters, including reviews and counseling.
Ensure every employee possesses complete knowledge of emergency procedures.
Help process employee payroll each week in collaboration with the operations manager.
