New Job Opening at Ghana Wildlife Society
POSITION: Executive Director
The Ghana Wildlife Society, a national conservation and research NGO, is looking for a highly driven and devoted individual to serve as Executive Director. The job provides vision and strategic direction for the society’s expansion, and assures successful performance of its nature and environmental conservation programs.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement strategies to promote the organization’s mission and “voice”
- Create thorough business plans to achieve the aims and objectives defined by the board of directors.
- Create an effective leadership team by guiding and coaching subordinate managers.
- Ensure that the organization’s everyday activities and long-term plans follow established policies and legal norms.
- Direct and monitor investments and fundraising initiatives.
- Build and sustain trusting relationships with shareholders, partners, and external authorities.
- Act as a public speaker and public relations representative for the company in ways that raise its profile.
- Review reports from subordinate managers to gain a grasp of the organization’s financial and non-financial situation.
- Develop corrective activities for any identified concerns, and execute crisis management as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- PhD or Master’s degree in relevant field
- At least 5 years of senior management experience in NGO operations
- Strong leadership skills, resource mobilization experience, familiarity with donor agencies, managing multiple donor-funded projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Commitment to nature conservation.
