Job Description
We are looking for a Youth Programs Coordinator to join our team in Tamale. This role is suitable for someone who is passionate about women’s empowerment, program coordination, and mentorship and has demonstrated the capacity to motivate young women to attain their full potential.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Youth Programs Coordinator will be in charge of designing, implementing, and evaluating our fellowship and youth programs. This role, which works in cooperation with the Create Change Foundation in Canada, focuses on program delivery, mentoring, capacity building, and organizational support. The coordinator will play an important role in providing our fellows—young women leaders—with the skills they need to execute effective programs in their communities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Design and Implementation (35%).
- Lead the planning and implementation of youth and gender empowerment programs, which include workshops, timetables, budgets, and monitoring and evaluation methods.
- Oversee the daily execution of fellowship programs to ensure seamless operations and resource management.
- Conduct needs assessments to modify program structures and address the obstacles that underprivileged kids encounter.
- Collaborate with leadership to establish strategic priorities and create new projects that will enable young women to lead community development.
- Ensure that youth and gender views are incorporated into program activities, decisions, and policies.
Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting (20 percent)
- Implement procedures for tracking program progress, gathering feedback, and assessing impact.
- Lead data collection, analysis, and reporting to evaluate outcomes and make informed decisions.
- Prepare program reports that emphasize successes, lessons gained, and areas for growth.
- Document best practices and promote ongoing learning to improve program delivery.
Capacity-building and mentorship (30%)
- Provide continuing mentorship and training to fellows, preparing them to deliver programs confidently and successfully.
- Create and facilitate training modules to address fellows’ development requirements, thereby improving their leadership and program management skills.
- Foster a supportive and collaborative atmosphere in which fellows can overcome obstacles and develop as leaders.
- Provide guidance on implementing education, literacy, and training efforts in remote communities.
Advocacy and partnership (10%)
- Represent CCG at youth and women-focused events, conferences, and forums to build collaborations and increase awareness.
- Develop ties with government officials, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and community leaders to campaign for youth empowerment and gender equality.
- Contribute to strategic networking activities to establish CCG as a leader in grassroots transformation for young women.
Additional responsibilities (5%).
- Support administrative activities connected to the program, such as budgeting and logistics.
- Assist with other tasks as needed to support CCG’s mission and goals.
Required Skill or Experience
Education & Experience
- A master’s degree in development studies, education, gender studies, or a closely related discipline.
- Three or more years of experience in program coordination, mentoring, or youth empowerment roles.
- Proven ability to carry out and manage community-based activities.
- Experience with monitoring and assessment, impact measurement, and reporting.
- Experience with education, rural community development, or women’s empowerment programs, preferably in Northern Ghana.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong organizational skills, including the capacity to manage many priorities.
- Exceptional mentoring and facilitation skills, motivating young women to succeed.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, both written and spoken.
- Strategic thinker with a problem-solving approach.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Fluency in English is necessary; fluency in Dagbani is advantageous.
