ROLE: Commercial Manager 

Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology is a business area of the Sandvik Group. It is a major global provider of equipment and tools, service, and technical solutions for the mining industry, including rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading, hauling, and materials handling.

Do you want to get ahead in your job? We are looking for a Commercial Manager in Kumasi, Ghana, to join our West Africa team. This position will report to the Vice President – Sales Area West Africa and will be in charge of building relationships with customers in the West African region that are mutually beneficial. This will be done by minimizing business risk and maximizing overall profitability in line with the commercial mission.

Regarding Your Job.

  • Develop and use a business strategy for the West Africa Sales Area that is in line with the strategies of the divisions.
  • Change the business plan to keep up with changing markets and competition.
  • Make templates and papers that are standard.
  • Global framework deals are carried out on a local level.
  • Manage the process of assessing the business risk of contracts (both new ones and ones that have been changed) before they are signed by sales areas and any vendor networks in the region.
  • Follow up with BLMs to make sure that all important P&L global stakeholders have been included in the review process for new businesses, and communicate as needed.
  • Help make sure the SA plan is in line with the company strategy.
  • It’s their job to keep track of and look into any process that don’t go as planned in their area. They also have to suggest what should be done next to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Work with the global commercial team to create and improve commercial management processes, process maps, audit tools, and user rules on an ongoing basis.
  • Keep an eye on the upkeep of models that predict running costs.
  • Make sure that the estimates for escalation are done.
  • As a result of audits, this person is in charge of finishing any actions that need to be done, reviewing gap estimates, and suggesting ways to close gaps.
  • Follow all of SMR’s policies and procedures, especially the ones about safety, health, the environment, and quality.
  • Any other tasks that the Vice President of Sales for West Africa may give.

Your Profile

You have hands-on experience in mining, construction, energy, or a related field, and you have good business sense. You are comfortable working with people from different fields to get things done. Moreover, You are a great speaker and writer, and you can get your point across in a clear and concise way. You can listen to what other people say and answer their questions or worries in a helpful way. Also, have the business sense to understand the current business situation and predict what will happen in the future. You must be excited about the job and have high standards of ethics and professionalism.

In an ideal world, you should have:

  • Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in finance, business, supply chain, law, or a similar field. A master’s degree or professional law qualification with a focus on business contracts will be a plus.
  • At least 10 years of experience working with contractual documents and handling business problems, with 3 to 5 years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate commercial risk when starting a new business, lead the development of a negotiation plan, and take part in negotiations.
  • If you know about law terms and conditions and have experience writing contracts, that would be a plus.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and business case analysis. Experience creating and running process checks and creating new processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to see the big picture as well as important facts and risks.
  • Being able to speak French will be a plus.
  • It is important to know how to use Microsoft 365.

License or Certificates

  • License and passport that are still good
  • able to pass a check of your crime history.
