POSITION: Assistant Restaurant Manager (Local Hire)
To manage a service team and provide an exceptional guest experience within the outlet concept. The Assistant Bar Manager delivers courteous, professional, and efficient service in accordance with the outlet, hotel, and Kempinski standards, resulting in increased sales and profit. The Assistant Bar Manager must advance to the post of Bar Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible to the Bar Manager.
- Responsible for Bartender, Barman / Barmaid, and Bar Host / Hostess.
- Provide professional and courteous service at all times, and ensure that all employees at the assigned outlet follow suit.
- Ensure that the workplace and surrounding area are always clean and orderly.
- Be aware of all services and goods provided by the hotel.
- Understand the outlet’s idea completely and accept training responsibilities as assigned by the Bar Manager.
- Understand the department’s monthly profit and loss statements.
- Be knowledgeable enough to run the existing POS system at the trained responsibility level designated by the department.
- Plan daily routine checklists and station divisions based on the work schedule.
- Assist the Bar Manager in preparing reports and analysis for the monthly performance meeting.
- Attend and contribute to all staff meetings, departmental training, and hotel-initiated training.
- Assist with the monthly inventory of operating supplies and equipment in collaboration with the stewardship department.
- Incidents requiring disciplinary action should be reported immediately to the Bar Manager.
- Coordinate the annual evaluation of the outlet’s operations manual changes, as requested by the Bar Manager.
- Support activities and collaboration with suppliers.
- Undertake acceptable assignments and secondary duties as assigned by the Bar Manager.
- Respond to any changes in the department as directed by hotel management.
- Handle guest inquiries and complaints in the outlet in a courteous and efficient manner, then report to the Bar Manager, ensuring that follow-up is done with the guest.
- Ensure that the outlet’s specified opening and closing protocols are followed.
- Assign responsibilities to subordinates in accordance with the multitasking concept, and monitor their performance on a regular basis.
- Attend all daily/weekly Food & Beverage meetings in the absence of the Restaurant / Outlet Manager.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- BA/BSc in Hospitality Management or equivalent field, preferably from a hospitality school, or an MBA.
- A minimum of three years of experience in food and beverage management.
- Awards/certificates/training in bar operations are preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of beverages (cocktails, liquors, wine, etc.).
- Ability to work independently, flourish under pressure in difficult circumstances, and devise proactive, sensible solutions.
- Excellent written and spoken communication abilities.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with hotel employees and clients/vendors
- Capability to identify and allocate duties efficiently.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.Uses a professional, discreet, and ethical approach at all times.
- Works in a safe, prudent, and orderly manner.Ability to use computer and office equipment.
- Excel and Word skills are essential.
