POSITION: NTD Programme Officer
Job Purpose
- To guarantee that the Ghana ELFA and RLM initiatives are planned, implemented, monitored, and assessed to the highest standards as outlined in the organization’s rules and procedures.
- Work with other staff, partners, and others to discover areas for project expansion and aid in creating and establishing new projects.
Principal Accountabilities:
Working with ELFA and RLM Partners: 10%
- Collaborate with the NTD programme Manager to coordinate the activities of ELFA and RLM programme partners in Ghana to ensure that the programmes’ scope of work is successfully executed.
- Establish and maintain long-term partnerships with these partners that extend beyond the ELFA and RLM projects.
- Assist partners in identifying and meeting their own capacity-building requirements.
- Share information about Sightsavers and its activities with ELFA and RLM partners.
- Establish partnership agreements with ELFA AND RLM partners as needed.
- Foster shared learning and collaboration among partners by supporting partner networks and meetings.
Financial and Resource Management (20%)
- Help the ELFA and RLM program partners prepare budgets.
- Keep track of project finance resources and coordinate with the FSSM/O as needed.
- Ensure that partners provide timely financial returns.
- Follow up with partners on any actions resulting from audits conducted by the finance officer or external auditors.
Project Management: 60%
- Providing assistance with all elements of the ELFA and RLM program management, including planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Routinely collaborate with partners to identify technical support requirements.
- Work with the partner to ensure that all project paperwork and reports are available on time and in an accessible format.
- Review field status reports and team meetings, provide feedback and escalate issues as needed.
- Then, ensure interventions align with gender, equity, social inclusion, value for money, and sustainability.
- Collaborate with the programme Manager to update annual activity logs and frameworks.
Information and Communication Management (10%)
- Be proactive in supplying high-quality material on case studies, intriguing news articles, and other topics related to the ELFA and RLM programmes.
- Attend all meetings and events organized by partners in the ELFA and RLM programs and provide comments.
- Finally, Jobholder entrance requirements: the essential knowledge, abilities, and behaviours required.
Qualifications & Experience
Knowledge (education and relevant experience):
- Degree in relevant field (Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, Education) or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing Onchocerciasis (Oncho) and Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) programs in an NGO setting.
- Strong project management experience in community development programs.
- Also, Excellent monitoring and evaluation skills.
- Strong research skills.
- Experience with budget development.
- Demonstrated expertise in eliminating neglected tropical diseases.
- Proficient in research and behavioral communication.
- Desirable experience in Disease Management and Disability Inclusion (DMDI).
- Lastly, Capable of travelling nationally and globally for up to 8 weeks annually.
Skills (special training or competency):
- Proficient in project management, oral and written communication, written English, IT, and budgeting.
