New Employment Opportunity at ERM
ERM is looking for a passionate Consultant to join our rapidly growing Capital Project Delivery Team in Ghana. The role is an exciting opportunity to help deliver a range of critical capital projects for our global clients.
The consultant would be expected to have demonstrable experience delivering Africa- based Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) projects, preferably including linear infrastructure such as roads, transmission lines and capital infrastructure.
POSITION: Senior Consultant
Role expectations
As a Senior Consultant within the team, you will be responsible for:
- Firstly, Delivering or coordinating projects or whole elements of larger multidisciplinary or global projects – as ERM works closely with some of the world’s largest organisations, we anticipate that this role will require close collaboration with our regional and global capital project delivery teams
- Secondly, Delivering multiple project tasks or components, including support on proposals
- Thirdly, Understanding the inter-relationships between ERM services and policies and how these are applied within the clients’ business model
- Furthermore, Establishing strong working relationships with clients through project delivery
- Moreover, Contributing to our key local, regional and global clients and supporting the solutions ERM delivers for their Environmental and Social Governance and capital infrastructure related challenges
- In addition, Making use of effective working relationships within the business unit and participate in global technical communities to ensure strong network of resources
- Then, Remaining up to date with external market and client industry trends
- Also, Sharing expertise and knowledge within the business unit and/or global practice area
- Again, Understanding how work of the project team and or practice community contributes to ERM’s success
- More so, Adhering to all ERM and client requirements, specifically those related to H&S and governance
- Afterwards, Supervising subcontractors during fieldwork, ensuring they comply with ERM’s Health & Safety policies and ABC code and work is completed in line with project scope
- Last but not least, Applying client/sector know ledge when carrying out tasks associated with drafting project deliverables and or proposals
- Finally, Using ERM’s methodologies and technologies consistently in line with ERM and client expectations
As a Senior Consultant within the team, you will be responsible for:
- Managing or coordinating small or medium size projects or whole elements of larger multidisciplinary or global projects – as ERM works closely with some of the world’s largest organisations, we anticipate that this role will require close collaboration with our internal and external stakeholders
- Delivering multiple project tasks or components, including proposals (specifically capital infrastructure, but may be diverse as required)
- Navigate client projects through licensing and consenting processes in Africa (specifically Ghana initially)
- Building a project team(s) and coaching and mentoring more junior staff
- Understanding the interrelationships between ERM services and policies and how these are applied within the clients’ business model
- Establishing strong working relationships with clients through project delivery
- Advising our key local, regional and global clients
- Making use of effective working relationships with business unit and participate in global technical communities to ensure strong network of resources
- Remaining up to date with external market and client industry trends
- Sharing expertise and knowledge within the business unit and/or global practice area
- Understanding how work of the project team and or practice community contributes to ERM’s success
You will be part of our interdisciplinary and international team and will collaborate with ERM offices in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be educated to degree or postgraduate degree in environmental management, environmental sciences or similar.
- Capital projects delivery focus would be advantageous e.g. Linear infrastructure (roads, transmission and distribution lines), transport and generation (renewables).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in either a consulting environment, the regulatory sector or from industry.
- Have strong writing and communication skills.
- Have an understanding of environmental assessments including environmental impact assessment, regulations in Ghana, best practice (e.g. IFC Performance Standards).
- Have experience in drafting of screening and scoping reports, technical reports and environmental assessment chapters.
- Have a track record in the authorisation of ESIAs and other permitting processes in Ghana and/or Africa.
- Have project management experience of small capital development projects.
- Have experience in supporting stakeholder engagement and regulator meetings and preparing materials to support consultation.
- Any project risk management and/or program management skills would be advantageous.
- Lastly, Professional registration with GhISEP and/or demonstrable knowledge working with Environmental Protection Agency, Ghana.
