Our client is a prominent entity in the engineering and construction industry, offering a diverse array of construction solutions throughout Africa and Europe.

Job Purpose

In addition to supporting resident engineers and deputy resident engineers on-site with project designs, contractual issues, and site documentation, the Technical Director will operate as the main point of contact between the Technical Office in Ghana and Europe. The Technical Director will also help the Technical Office in Ghana expand.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with management to achieve both general and technical objectives.
• Oversee and manage the Technical Office’s operations.
• Ensure compliance with the Technical Office’s processes and implement a Document Control Plan along with Quality procedures for the company.
• Guarantee the timely execution of directives and plans by effectively managing resources.
• Facilitate prompt requests to the Technical Office in Rome for project tasks, design, and engineering support for Technical Office personnel.
• Maintain control over the Technical Office’s operations while honouring the independence of Operations and the Technical Office Coordinator.
• Assure efficient communication between the Accra Technical Office and its European counterpart.
• Manage client relations concerning the services provided by the company, particularly in relation to design and contractual elements of ongoing projects.
• Oversee design management to ensure adherence to technical progress deadlines.
• Supervise the preparation of technical drawings.
• Propose initiatives to management aimed at optimizing technical services, streamlining procedures, and ensuring consistency across various projects undertaken by the company.
• Support management in the preparation of periodic reports regarding the branch’s performance, offering relevant analyses.
• Ensure that archives and backups of information pertinent to the area of responsibility are maintained and regularly updated.

Requirements

• The ideal candidate should possess significant technical experience in railway engineering at a supervisory level, with international exposure, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar position within railway or transport engineering is essential.
• A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or related fields is required, while a Master’s degree in these areas will be considered an advantage.
• Proficiency in the English language at a professional or advanced level is necessary.
• Strong supervisory capabilities, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, are required.
• The ability to analyze financial data is essential.
• Candidates should be proficient in the Microsoft 365 suite, with advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other applications.
• Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills are also required.
