Role Title: Communications Director

Background:
Feed the Future Act Ghana Trade and Investment (GTI) Activity aims to improve the conditions for Ghana’s economy to grow by: 1) encouraging growth in export-oriented trade; 2) improving and developing product standards; 3) encouraging investments in private businesses related to high-value commercial crops; 4) encouraging job creation, especially for women and young people; 5) encouraging economic diversification; and 6) increasing foreign exchange revenues from high-value exports. GTI will make it easier for people to invest in companies that trade goods across borders. It will also spur innovation and build up the trade sector as a whole.
Duties and what you’ll be doing.
Nathan, a company owned by Cadmus, is looking for a qualified Communications Director to help with:

GTI will make it easier for people to invest in companies that trade goods across borders. It will also spur innovation and build up the trade sector as a whole.
Summary of a Position:
The Communications Director will work closely with technical staff and report to the Chief of Party and the Director of Finance and Operations. He or she will be in charge of all communications deliverables and the parts of the project that are visible to the public. He or she will be in charge of the project’s messaging, marketing, media, public awareness, branding, and other forms of communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, write, and send biweekly reports to the donor. Lead the writing of quarterly and annual reports that will be sent to the donor. This includes coordinating all technical staff to write regular inputs, checking for spelling and grammar errors, and putting the reports in the right format.
- Plan and oversee the implementation of the Communications and Outreach Plan, which will reach project beneficiaries and stakeholders.
- Work across GTI to direct the regular production of communication and marketing materials, such as success stories, presentations, meeting materials, workshops, and briefs, in collaboration with office and technical staff.
- Make sure that communications services and the activity communications strategy are delivered according to the right marketing and strategy guidelines.
- Review communications with the outside world to make sure quality control
- Help with putting together and presenting reports to USAID and other interested parties
- Work with the project’s technical leads to help the project be carried out in a visible way and to tell beneficiaries and stakeholders about the project’s effects.
- Give feedback on the deliverables when asked.

Qualifications
- At least 10 years of experience in communications, preferably in the field of development
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in social sciences, communications/marketing, international relations, international development, or a related field.
- Have a lot of experience in both local and international communication, including working on projects funded by USAID.
- English writing and editing skills must be shown, as well as the ability to package information for delivery.
- Experience creating and implementing a communications strategy and giving activity and client teams advice on communications
- Having knowledge of USAID branding and marking standards is a plus.
- Excellent performance record in a deadline-driven environment is a plus.
- Adobe Creative Suite graphic design tools experience is a plus.
- Excellent writing and speaking skills in English. The best person for the job will be a strong writer who pays close attention to both editorial and formatting details.
- The ideal candidate will also have new ideas to improve and enhance traditional ways of communicating.
