Controversial Ghanaian singer, Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah popularly known as Mzbel believes Kwami Eugene has no excuse for featuring on Sarkodie’s “Happy Day” song therefore he should shut up.
Since the release of the song, many Ghanaians have labeled it as a campaign song and Kwami Eugene has also been tagged as a supporter of the New Patriotic Party. The reigning artist of the year has tried to give explanations as to why he was on the track. He vehemently denied having any knowledge of the endorsement prior to the video shoot and complained bitterly that it would affect his brand negatively. In the song, Sarkodie endorsed the ruling party as he believes they have solved some issues the opposition party could solve.
Reacting to this whole brouhaha was Mzbel. Caught in an interactive interview on Neat FM’s Entertainment Ghana Show with Ola Micheal, she totally disagreed with Kwami Eugene. To her, the young singer could have immediately opted out the moment he found out it was a political song but he went on to shoot the video. She emphasized that though she is not a Sarkodie fan, she would support him on this one. According to her, neither Lynx Entertainment nor Sarkodie could have forced him against his will and even if they did he could have invited a third party ; his parents or any respected person to intervene. Therefore the fact that he is seen in the music video proves he agreed to be a part of the song. She stated that if Kwami Eugene could not talk during the video shoot then he should let our ears rest with his many excuses.
Mzbel also added that Sarkodie in time past refused to feature on her song because he thinks her song would have a negative impact on his brand.
